Showcasing our fantastic venues across London, rhubarb delivered a spectacular event at the Tower of London with Historic Royal Palaces. We transported guests through the seasons with every course, each offering creative flair and delicious rhubarb flavours.
The evening started with a wintery touch as guests entered the iconic grounds over a drawbridge and were welcomed with a hot toddy served in a silver goblet alongside a range of warming canapés. Our chefs prepared a variety of cured fish bites live on a fabulous pink Himalayan salt bar with seabass gravadlax, scallop ceviche and beetroot cured trout. Next we stepped into spring with an innovative starter with a white wicker hamper filled with a delicate picnic including houmous and edible soil, quail’s Scotch eggs and a coronation chicken beignet.
The main course was a summery affair with a beautiful piece of summer rose veal served with truffle buttermilk foam before we moved to a different room to unveil an autumnal foraging pudding stall, designed with the aim of getting guests to interact with a variety of indulgent delights.
Half way through the evening a Beefeater informed guests that no one could leave within the next half hour as The Ceremony of the Keys took place – a tradition whereby the fortress and Crown Jewels are locked up for the evening. This tradition has taken place every night without fail for the last 700 years and served to remind guests of the uniqueness of this historic location which has stood on the shores of the River Thames for nearly 1,000 years.
rhubarb’s aim for the evening was to inspire guests with the breadth of opportunities available at iconic venues such as the Tower of London in a step away from the traditional and corporate, transforming the space into something truly unique and memorable.
